The Human Services Commission advises
the City Council about the social problems and needs
of the community, coordinates community social resources, and seeks voluntary solutions to discourage and prevent any and all forms of recognized discrimination. The Human Services Commission reviews
applications for the City's social service funds and makes recommendations to the Hayward City Council.
The Commission also assigns a member liaison to each program that is
funded. In addition, the Commission serves as a resident's advisory group to the City's Paratransit Program which provides transportation to persons who are unable to drive or access other forms of transportation due to medical or disabling conditions.
