High School Student Poll Worker Program

The Alameda County Registrar of Voters is accepting applications for the High School Student Poll Worker Program.

High School Student Poll Workers:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must be at least 16 years of age
Must have minimum  of 2.5 GPA on 4.0 scale
Must attend a mandatory 1-hour online training

Complete and return completed application form to the Alameda County Registrar of Voters by October 14, 2014

National Voter Registration Day – September 23, 2014 -

Today, September 23, 2014, is National Voter Registration Day, a nationwide effort to register hundreds of voters on one single day and to celebrate democracy. Registering to vote online only takes a few minutes and allows you to exercise your right.

If you prefer the traditional approach, you can obtain voter registration applications at the Alameda County Registrar of Voters, Office of the City Clerk, post offices and public libraries.

The last day to register to vote for the November General Election is October 20, 2014.

NOTICE OF VACANCY ON THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF HAYWARD

 (HAYWARD, CA) – The City of Hayward will be accepting applications for potential candidates to fill the remaining two years of former Council Member Barbara Halliday’s term. The vacancy was created when Halliday was elected Mayor and sworn into office on Tuesday, July 8, 2014.

Applicants must be residents of incorporated Hayward and qualified electors of the City of Hayward.  The term of the appointment will expire subsequent to the certification of the canvass of the General Municipal Election in 2016, and assumption of the office of Council Member by the duly elected candidate.

All interested applicants must complete an application which is available from the Office of the City Clerk, 777 B Street, Hayward, or online at www.hayward-ca.gov

The office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  All completed applications must be filed in the Office of the City Clerk by noon, Wednesday, July 16, 2014.  No application will be accepted without a completed questionnaire or after the deadline.

The applications received will be screened by the members of the City Council.  Those candidates selected from the screening process will be scheduled for an interview at a Council meeting on July 22, 2014.  The City Council may appoint the new Council Member at the end of this meeting.
